Where did I get the idea to write The Confessions of Adam? My initial idea was to write what I imagined would be a classical romance based on the narrative of Samson and Delilah. I didn’t know then when creating fiction you are supposed to research and write at the same time. I got bogged down in cultural and historical research. I wanted to write and all I was doing was reading. And complaining. It was at this point my wife, Cyndi, offered a suggestion. “Why don’t you write about Adam and Eve? There can’t be much research there.”Ever since not only do Cyndi and I collaborate over which projects I choose to work on, but she reads everything that leaves my desk––from emails to chapter drafts. She isn’t my beta reader, she’s my alpha reader. If you’ve enjoyed this blog post, you can thank her.
